This is a long length film, so there are a lot of things I can talk about !
I've worked on it from the beginning till the end. When the director showed me the script I thought it was a great sory, with great characters, great moments in it.
It is based on true stories of battered women, it was supposed to be a documentary but it could have been dangerous for the women to appear on screen. So, the director, Lynda, turned their stories into a fiction.
I have helped as a script doctor, because Lynda tended to write it like a book, so I restructured the script, modified some scenes for a better start or end, etc...
Then I have participated and organized the castings, we found really good actors, we were really happy about that !
I have helped for the shooting, as a DOP, as a co-director for some scenes. I have helped Lynda to make everything better when we could.
Before all of this, we tried to find a production society. But in France, it is hard to find money. The societies don't choose the films according to the stories, sadly. That is the problem in France. We never have good stories in films. Lynda's script was great, and that's why we wanted to make it, to direct it. With nearly no money, we did all we could. So, it's not perfect, but we know that if we had money, we could have made something great. I hope someday we will maybe remake it with money, or make other films with money. But for now, there is a filmed version of this film.
We showed it to the battered women, they were so released to see it, to see their stories brought to life with other people. That's also why we made this film. We think making films can also help people.
We have sent the film in all the festivals we could around the world ! Because we know that it will be most appreciated in other countries.
For now, the film is selected in the Women Media Arts and Film Festival in Australia, and in Festival des A côtés in France. We are waiting for pending requests.
Well, I think I will stop here, but this film is what I want to make in the film industry. Real films with real and touching stories.
